Miss Kerry currently performs on a 1963 Vintage 14K Handmade Powell.
This truly exceptional flute was crafted by Edward Almeida when he was with the
Powell Co in 1963. Edward Almeida, a flute maker whose silver and gold flutes are the
prized possessions of flutists and symphony orchestras across the world. He pioneered
precision engineering in the manufacture of individual professional flutes. He worked at
Powell from 1948 to 1971 and is most respected as a tool maker and an innovator in
precision construction in handmade flutes. As such, Powell flutes built by Almeida seem to
always have exquisite mechanisms. This instrument is one of only four fully handmade 14K
flutes crafted by Almeida. The open, rich sound contains all of the qualities of a vintage
Powell with a warm and effortless spinning tone in all registers.
